Job description


• 3-5 years’ experience with proven performance in general facilities maintenance
• Multi-skilled in electrical, mechanical, drywall, painting, concrete repairs, HVAC maintenance, roof systems, and housekeeping
• Familiarity with fire systems and components, intrusion protection systems and industrial electrical
• Understanding of heavy equipment maintenance routines
• Ability to read manuals, electrical and manual schematics
• Experience with mechanical systems, automation control and conveyor equipment
• Electrical, mechanical and forklift maintenance and repair skills
• Ability to read and understand building blueprints
• Proven knowledge of social and environmental issues related to warehousing activities to include green energy processes and spill protection plans
• OSHA knowledge as it relates to building maintenance and hygiene
• Experience with computer software (i.e. MS Office, Excel Databases)
• Skilled with hand and small power tools
• Service oriented
• Willingness to share knowledge and learning with other co-workers
• Exceptional Problem solving/trouble shooting skills
• Fluent in English; verbal and written
• Excellent communication skills; able to communicate to internal and external customers and vendors


The Facility Manager will ensure IKEA’s Customer Distribution Center equipment, batteries and building are fully operational, maintained to manufacturer’s specifications while minimizing costs and down time, and that all safety regulations are adhered to through effective training and recording keeping.

• Local liaison with landlord/property management.
• Preparation and coordination with local authorities in order to obtain Certificate of Occupancy.
• Acquisition and coordination of any rented equipment, trash and refuse removal.
• Facility and site security until turnover to CDC staff. Access control and primary point-of-contact for various suppliers and contractors.
• Build-up of consumable supplies, office, local service providers, etc.

• Assign maintenance work, supply detailed and complete reports with daily follow-up maintaining production pertaining to projects and work orders.
• Respond accordingly to work-related equipment and/or coworker issues.
• Maintain quality control on work assignments.
• Work with vendors as needed.
• Ensure adherence to IKEA policies and procedures.
• Communicate in a positive manner with all areas and levels of the Distribution Centers, Stores, and Service providers.
• Lead and develop co-workers within the area of responsibility and in accordance with the IKEA co-worker idea.
• Assume responsibility for other tasks and projects as assigned.
