To meet customers' needs for a fast, easy and accessible shopping experience, with the least possible impact on the environment, IKEA is establishing a distribution center in Vestby, outside Oslo. We are now looking for a manager for this distribution unit:

UNIT MANAGER – Customer Distribution Center Vestby

The Customer Distribution Center (CDC) will open in 2025 and be a workplace for about 120 employees and managers. CDC plays a central role in developing the omnichannel IKEA, while significantly reducing the environmental footprint of our distribution of IKEA goods to Norwegian homes. We are now looking for a leader who has both the strategic view for the future and customer needs, and at the same time can be an operational manager for a modern unit with a high degree of automation and digital solutions. We want the manager to start as early as autumn 2023, to help build up the organization.

Your responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the operation and management of the Customer Distribution Center
• Lead the unit's management team, and be responsible for strategy, goals, budget and achievement of results
• Lead and develop employees and the organization
• Continuously develop the CDC unit in line with customer needs, both today and the future
• Responsible for safety in all work processes, HSE and working environment
• Collaborate well with stakeholders; IKEA matrix and other key partners with the goal of best meeting customer needs - today and in the future
• Proactively collaborate with the Norwegian IKEA organization to ensure a continuous improvement of the customer experience – and the CDC unit's results


We would like to see that you have:
• Experience from management and operation of larger operational organizations, preferably logistics activities
• Good knowledge of and an analytical approach to customer behavior, and customers' expectations and needs in the face of retail trade.
• Understanding of different customer journeys and how we can best meet different needs in an omnichannel context.
• Good knowledge of the concept of "omnichannel" and sees the potential of retail trade in meeting customers' needs for sustainable solutions, availability and service level
• Relevant higher education (bachelor/master) in logistics/retail/management
• 5-7 years of management experience, experience of leading managers
• Good cooperation skills and a skilled relationship builder
• Understanding of stakeholder management and experience working in a complex matrix organization
