Senior Software Engineer, IKEA for Business, Group Digital

San Sebastián de los Reyes, Madrid - Explore location IT & Digital Solutions Full Time

Job description

Hej! I’m Javier and I am an Engineering Manager based in Madrid.

As we are expanding our Digital Hub in Madrid we are looking for passionate engineers who are excited about shaping the future of IKEA for Business area. Since we are in the very beginning of our journey, this is a great moment to join and help us to provide the best experience to our business customers.

IKEA for Business covers a wide range of initiatives with global reach. For this role you will be focusing on Fulfilment (supply chain) or on our IKEA for Business Network:

• Fulfilment: With over 30 countries in which we are present, supply chain is one of the most challenging and amazing fields in which you can dig into. We're creating a world class shopping experience for millions of our customers by focusing on expanding delivery & services choices that are speedy, sustainable and affordable while keeping IKEA's fulfilment costs low.
• IKEA for Business Network represents an opportunity to tap into an entirely new audience while creating a transformation in our offer and engagement model. Enabling us to transition from being a furniture provider to a partner that supports their business growth and performance. Our IKEA for Business Network will provide members access to a range of benefits and rewards to support their business and create a better life at work. We’ve started with setting the basic package for implementing and launching the network with basic functionalities and benefits needed to attract and engage our members.

We're ramping up the team in Madrid. However, in the meantime we work closely with our colleagues in Sweden. This means that you will have to split your time between being hands-on in an autonomous way and collaborate with a wide range of different teams (managing stakeholders, coordinating, supporting and hands-on). This is a challenging position as you will need to adapt ruthlessly depending on both the problem you're working on and the teams you're interacting with. If you're comfortable with uncertainty, you'll feel at home.

Most things remain to be done. And that’s why we want you to help us.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will have the opportunity to design, implement, and operate solutions that will be directly experienced by our customers.

• You're a seasoned Software Engineer with experience in sustainable growth and able to shape the technical direction of the team
• You are used to work with stakeholders and being hands-on at your own pace. You embrace best practices and you know when to push back when the situation requires it
• You understand that technology is a great means to achieve even greater results!
• You have a solid experience with OOP (like Java or Python), and you're used to modern reactive frameworks such as React.js
• Provide value to our customers is in your soul: by deploying fast and safe by using CI/CD flows, TDD and DDD. Everything is production-ready!
• You are eager to push your team to reach excellence by adapting to each situation either from the technical or from the stakeholder management sides

We dare to renew and improve by embracing mistakes and learning from them. We lead by example and we seek for accountability while promoting a positive attitude.

The IKEA culture and values are very much a part of our business and day to day work life. For you to thrive and grow with IKEA it’s important for us that you share our values! You can read more regarding those and life at IKEA on our website or just watch this movie:

You will be a part of a great culture as well as our vision “to create a better everyday life for the many people” – for customers, but also for our co-workers and the people who work at our suppliers. You will work and thrive in a truly people and planet positive work environment.

Some of the perks that we offer:

- A workplace where you can be yourself
- Equal pay (Our salaries are set independently of race, gender, age or other individual characteristics)
- Continuous learning on the job as well as structured trainings and platforms
